Sailors' dogs seek out and find things, weaving their experiences together with their own subjective thoughts, feelings, and memories.
It’s about tuning into a wide variety of contexts and making them tangible—between the lines, in the strokes of a drawing, in the space between image and text. Graphic designer and illustrator Fine Heininger is responsible for the images, while copywriter Madeleine Penny Potganski handles the words. A drawing responds to a sentence—and vice versa—creating fragmentary connections, a dialogue between image and text that opens up another level: 1+1=3. Sailor dogs collect puzzle pieces along the way and put them together. Snapshots overlap and are recombined. Words and images seek the possibility of a narrative: the secret poetry of things.
Work Title: NOCH IST NICHTS VERLOREN
Matrosenhunde (Madeleine Penny Potganski & Fine Heininger) conduct field research in Lusatia using artistic methods. They stay where people are, listen, and weave together stories, observations, and fragments of conversation—the past and what has been recorded, landscapes and life paths, rough-hewn longings, and the beauty in what is broken. The result is NOCH IST NICHTS VERLOREN, a site-specific installation that transforms the vacant space into a walk-in book: windows, walls, and a printed panel become vessels for stories. Longer texts invite visitors to continue reading both on-site and digitally.
