Marie Kublik, a poet and artistic researcher, studied Social and Business Communication at the University of the Arts, Religion, and Culture at Humboldt University in Berlin, as well as Creative Writing and Editorial Studies at the Hildesheim Institute of Literature. Her collection of short stories, Die Hände meiner Mutter (My Mother’s Hands), was published in 2023. Also in 2023, she founded the reading collective serious case of DEFORMATION, which develops and organizes reading events—some of which take place in rural areas.

Marie Kublik has lived in Leipzig since 2024, where she works, among other things, in a poetry group with Frida Teller and Charlotte Florack. She organizes, moderates, and designs reading events, cultural festivals, and writing workshops in Zurich, Halle, Dresden, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Leipzig, among other places.

Frida Teller (born 1998 in Leipzig) is an artistic researcher and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Martin Luther University Halle on the role of women in the structural transformation of the Central German lignite mining region. Previously, she worked as a project manager for the Capital of Culture project Hear to C, which brought untold stories to the radio. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Applied Arts Vienna in Cross-Disciplinary Strategies and has exhibited her artistic work in Bangalore, Athens, Bochum, Vienna, and Berlin, among other places. She is a certified facilitator for Global Learning and leads workshops on creative writing for organizations such as the German UNESCO Commission. She is the editor of the newsletter alles banane, which provides biweekly updates on art and culture from Eastern Germany. Her work has been honored with the Social Design Award at Vienna Design Week 2023, as well as a fellowship from the Goethe-Institut Bangalore in 2024.

Work Title: Spurlos verschwunden?

The participatory project Spurlos verschwunden? (german for "Vanished Without a Trace?") by Frida Teller (artistic researcher) and Marie Kublik (poet) explores the visibility of female poets from the GDR in the present day. Through a series of workshops, the project engages in active remembrance and fosters an intergenerational dialogue with poetic voices from the GDR. In three writing workshops, texts by female poets from the GDR—which explore themes of origin, changing landscapes, and life as women—enter into a dialogue with the experiences of today’s participants from Lusatia. Past and present intertwine to form a shared poetic space of resonance. The poetry sessions are complemented by two embroidery workshops, in which selected verses by GDR female poets as well as statements from the participants are embroidered onto everyday fabrics as textile memories. The craft of embroidery offers a unique way of archiving thoughts, experiences, and voices. This gives rise to a multifaceted dialogue between landscape and memory, between female perspectives then and now, and between literary heritage and the realities of contemporary life in Lusatia.
