Embroidery Workshop / Poetry Care with Marie Kublik and Frida Teller

As part of their installation Vanished Without a Trace? Lyrical Landscapes, which is dedicated to the sometimes-suppressed female poets of the GDR, artists Marie Kublik and Frida Teller are offering an embroidery workshop and a writing workshop during the opening weekend. These will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. each day.

Part of Kublik and Teller’s work involves preserving poetry: embroidering verses—some of which have never been published—by female poets from the GDR. This practice aims to give the writing women of the GDR a public platform.
The embroidery workshop is designed to be a collaborative experience, with time for intergenerational exchange, questions for the artists, and a discussion of the experiences and lived realities of (writing) women in the GDR.

Participation
Free admission
Registration and questions: curator@openart-lausitz-biennale.de
The embroidery workshop will take place on Saturday, August 7, starting at 11 a.m. on Zillestraße in Lauchhammer and will last approximately 2 hours.
Materials and drinks will be provided on site, but we’d love it if you could bring GDR-era home textiles (dish towels, sheets) for embroidery.
