At the opening of the exhibition at the Forster Museum of Textile and Industrial History in Lusatia, international and regional artistic perspectives will come together for the first time in the museum’s 300-square-meter hall.
The works explore the transformation of Lusatia, its textile and industrial history, changes in the landscape and environment, and issues of work and identity.
The opening will feature welcoming remarks by Simone Taubenek, mayor of the city of Forst, Martin Heusler, District Administrator of the Spree-Neiße District, Maysun Kellow, Project Director of the openart Lausitz Biennale, and Michaela van den Driesch, Artistic Director of the Biennale. Following this, the curator will provide an introduction to the exhibition and the artistic works.
Afterward, Esther Perbandt invites visitors to engage with the themes of order, dissolution, and movement through her installation and the resulting performance ORDER / DISORDER. In the four-hour live performance, the artist herself becomes part of the installation composed of hundreds of black cotton strips.
At 6:30 p.m., the guts company’s Open Spaces presentation Durch die Stadt begins in front of the museum. This danced city tour winds through Forst and opens up new perspectives on the urban landscape.
