For the opening of the exhibition Empty Spaces, Overgrowth, and Possibilities, Jamlitz will become a hub for contemporary art, encounters, and exchange.
Seven artists from Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Japan explore the site’s eventful history, its empty spaces, and the possibilities for its future.
The exhibition takes place in the temporary art hall of the Alte BHG and in public spaces throughout the village. The works by Julia Lazarus and Christine Schulz in the art hall, as well as those by Bob Budd, Mio Okido, Victoria Gouzikovski, Franziska Möbius, and Anke Westermann draw on different places, stories, and visions of the future.
Speakers at the opening include Julie Halten (Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture of the State of Brandenburg), Sven Herzberger (District Administrator of the Dahme-Spreewald District), Petra Schaar (honorary deputy mayor of the municipality of Jamlitz), Michaela van den Driesch (artistic director of the openart Lausitz Biennale), and Anna Grunemann (co-curator for Jamlitz).
Afterward, we will embark on a joint discovery tour of the public artworks in Jamlitz via a free horse-drawn carriage ride or other modes of transportation.
A shuttle bus will transport visitors from the Lübben train station to Jamlitz and back:
4:05 p.m. Departure from Lübben train station to Jamlitz
8:00 p.m. Return trip from Jamlitz to Lübben
Registration for the shuttle bus is required at projekte@brandung-ev.de.
