This practice uses critical spatial research to inform projects that take on both the symbolic and speculative aspects of works of art, and the utilitarian application of spatial design and architecture.

Title: Insurrection

Insurrection is a series of installations that grasp at the aesthetic shifts that come along with changes in ideology through spatial/architectural languages. The work fashions a series of uniforms for the houses of Jamlitz, in an aesthetic takeover. The designs draw on the kind of changes in buildings during epistemic shifts, regime changes, zeitgeist overlaps in artistic movements, political influences in urban planning, protest languages, and celebratory/nationalistic displays — aesthetics that are applied as a material conversation in the language of architecture as institutional strategies and individual tactics and other applications in between, while also bringing in new ideas and tendencies. The work imagines these kind of aesthetics as a type of architectural language and visualizes the point at which ideological shifts are overlapped, focusing more on these dynamics and the modalities of the stylistic languages themselves rather than what they are saying.

The work itself represents an epistemic shift through the language of architectural aesthetics. It aims to grasp at that moment of change that is not only a representation of a shift in aesthetic logics, but is also a harbinger that incrementally brings a new future into reality. The work therefore plays with the idea of the subtle language of architecture as bringing in threads of new virtualities that have the potential to become prophetic.

The installations are imagined as a new ideological style applied to a city and reflect to what extent it is possible for this aesthetic regime to emerge in this context: The final work is shaped through local mediation processes and therefore also reflects the extent to which these architectural adjustments can be implemented in a specific area, taking on different intensities and stylistic variants in different regions; Therefore the final work will be, in a way, the result of a site-specific experiment of this visualization. To what extent will an aesthetic takeover be possible?
