Event LICHTRAUM LAUSITZ, Projection Mapping
Section Biennale
Date 05 Sep 2026
Info Start at sunset
Location Kunsthalle Lausitz, District Stadt Cottbus
For one evening, the Kunsthalle Cottbus will be transformed into a walk-through total work of art combining light, painting, and urban imagery. The large-scale projection creates an immersive light space in which graffiti, abstract painting, graphic art, and architecture merge into a poetic, powerful, and contemporary light art installation.
As darkness falls, the facade of the Kunsthalle Lausitz becomes a giant projection screen: light, color, movement, and sound transform the historic brick architecture into an immersive art space.
With LICHTRAUM LAUSITZ, artist Philipp Geist has created a projection-mapping installation developed specifically for the Kunsthalle Cottbus—a large-scale light projection onto the facade. The architecture itself becomes the canvas: shapes, colors, and graphic structures move across the facade, making walls disappear, reappearing anew, and offering a completely fresh perspective on this familiar place.
Inspired by the energy of urban symbols and the visual language of graffiti, the installation combines abstract painting, digital imagery, and light art into an impressive experience in public space.
LICHTRAUM LAUSITZ is open to the public free of charge as part of the 1st openart Lausitz Biennale. No registration is required.
