Oversized sand sculptures transport visitors to Paris—the Eiffel Tower sand sculpture is 3.5 meters tall—to the Alhambra in Spain, the Taj Mahal in India, the Egyptian Sphinx, and a Japanese temple. The Sand City artist collective brings these dreams to life in sand after days of preparatory work.

The bungalows on Lake Rückersdorf used to serve exclusively as private retreats for their owners. Today, anyone can rent these bungalows. With the arrival and departure of so many visitors, this lake, too, becomes a place of transit.

The exhibition of large sand sculptures, titled “The World Visits Rückersdorfer See,” underscores the significance of this space, which is now open to everyone. It will help broaden our view of the world and, in doing so, help us understand it a little better.

The sand art depicts architectural styles from various cultures around the world, including Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia.
