OPEN SPACES – Visibility and Participation in the openart Lausitz Biennale

In Brandenburg's Lausitz, vibrant creative energy flourishes, mainly because of the extensive open spaces, tranquility, and emptiness. Artists, committed performers, and small project teams utilize these resources to stop decay and develop new areas. They also positively impact the local community, enrich society, inspire others, and highlight the diversity of Lower Lusatia.

OPEN SPACES – a special format within the openart Lausitz Biennale 2026 – aims to provide a platform for collaborative presentation that harnesses creative potential. The artistic work in Lusatia should be interconnected and visible across district borders.

Open Spaces – Open Opportunities

Alongside the regional venues of the Biennale, self-organized project locations can share their ideas and suggestions. These may include artists' workplaces and studios in the area, old train stations, churches, farms, barns, vacant stores, or other sites. The focus is on the visual arts — including painting, photography, sculpture, installations, sound, and light art. The program is enhanced by live events such as performances, scenic readings, workshops, and hands-on activities.

Note:

All selected actions, events, and studios from the OPEN SPACES will be promoted regionally and nationally as part of the Biennale.
Would you like to participate in the OPEN SPACES? Then send your contact details in advance via email to office@openart-lausitz-biennale.de. Once registration opens, we will contact all interested parties. This is not yet possible due to formal reasons.
