Lake Rückersdorf, located in the recreational area, was created through gravel mining that began in 1927. Today, it is a popular excursion destination and is regularly maintained: each year, about 600 tons of sifted and washed sand from the lake are used to recondition the beach. This creates an inviting shoreline area of around 2,000 square meters, which is now to be artistically transformed with sand sculptures.
