Since 2019, Kunsthalle Lausitz in Cottbus has been a central venue for contemporary art from the region. The historic building of the former Großenhain railway station, once a lost place, has since been renovated, becoming one of the most important addresses for art in Cottbus and beyond. Visual arts, comic art, graffiti, and street art are presented here as part of the Lausitz Biennale.

At the same time, a graffiti jam session is taking place on the unrenovated outdoor grounds of Großenhain railway station — including the remaining platforms, the old sheds, and the walls of the former canvas factory. It forms part of youth participation projects.

At the end of September, Großenhain railway station and its surrounding area will host the conclusion of the first open art Lausitz Biennale 2026. This event will offer a diverse audience the opportunity to engage with new perspectives on sites in the heart of Cottbus places that are partly neglected and partly transformed.

Exhibition dates: Fr 04.09.2026 - So 20.09.2026
